Upgrading Address Book and Calendar Server

Upgrading largely depends on the release you are on. If the database schema has changed, it is best to un-install and start with a clean / empty database and re-populate from scratch. Most updates however don't require this as only the application has changes. In this case it is only required to restart the server process, which is done by the installer. After upgrading verify that the new version is correctly shown on the login page. If the previous version is still show, restart the server manually using the instruction from here : Restarting Address Book Server.

If you want to un-install your server:

  1. Disable all clients
  2. Backup the server and move the backup file to a save place (optional - If you are taking a backup, you will need to move the backup file to a save place, as the folder will be removed during the next step)
  3. Un-install the server using the script from the original installation
  4. Install the server package
  5. Rediscover the new server (port 8080) from one client. The address should look like this
    http://server.local.:8080/AddressBookService
  6. License the server using your current license key via the Server Web Interface
  7. Enable / Register the clients with iSync.
  8. Synchronise - This will re-populate the servers database
  9. Enable the other clients and synchronise.

Upgrading Address Book Client

It is not required to un-install the client. The package installer will overwrite any previous files. During critical updates it may be required to disable / de-register and re-enable / re-register the client. Please refer to the release notes for details.
